The Founder Member of LJSS Niranjan Prakash belonged to a Money lender Brahman family and enjoying the life well, but after doing post graduation in Sociology he was assigned to conduct a survey on reality of women and Dalit in community , he made some study and research on the poor community and also read the autobiography of Gandhi in the duration. This was the turning point in the life of Niranjan ji, and decided to support the needy and poor people. He started to raise the voice of poor against the exploitation of women by the Money lenders and big land holders in the year 1997, Money lenders always used to misbehave and insult the poor people , the members of own family were doing the same behave with the poor community who took the loan , Niranjan ji observed this against mankind and protested this & decided to oppose the act of his family and the system of money lending and exploitation of poor specially women. He organized the exploited groups to raise their own voice and support one another and also strengthened the unity of poor people. He linked people with financial institution and commended support as their rights to life .the decision to fight against the money lenders was not easy First of all he stood against his own family . The family members call him to leave oppose of the family act, but he decides to fight against the money lending exploitations and their human tights. One day a meeting of all family members held and he was driven out from the village .he came at Lalganj and discussed the situation with his friends and got the support. A social worker Mr. K.B. Singh has provided support to fight against Sood Khori system and mobilized people to demanded for Rights too. Many social activist came to support the movement it has been registered as a voluntary development organization under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 in 1997 ,Income Tax Act 12 A & Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 and organized till date over 401 Women Self Help Groups (WSGs) across 86 remote rural villages in 26 Gram Panchayats serving a population of 29724 (4954 families) of Lalganj Block Pratapgarh district in the state of Uttar Pradesh (India).
BACKGROUND & Emergence
Lokpriya Janhit Sewa Sansthan was formed by a small group of social activists who had the concur for the rural people and marginalized sections of community. The organization took to the ideals of leaders like Vinoba, Gandhi Ji, who had inspired many to promote integrated and self-sustaining village society by uplifting the deprived and the down trodden, the vulnerable and exploited groups like children, women, aged put and end to illiteracy, make the disease free and economically enriched and to change overall disadvantaged situation to that of whole of Pratapgarh based on equality and just society.
The entire district is affected with many problems like illiteracy and lack of awareness, lack of health facilities, exploitation, and unemployment etc. in fact the district living in rural areas and development has not kept pace with that of urban areas through out the country. People in this district are either small land owning cultivators or laborers in the agricultural and domestic sector. There is not a trail of industrial or other economic activities on which the people could depend upon for their livelihood so the migration rate of the district is very high. The participate income of the people is therefore comparatively low and therefore has almost subsistence living condition and non availability of health facilities has pushed the people to believe in Fatalism and Orthodox beliefs for solving their problem.
It was observed that there was a need for new and innovative approaches for a more equal and just development according to the real needs and wishes of the poor population on the basis of local needs and demands not only for the successful implementation of the proposed development projects but also for their lasting effects.
